INDIO POLICE DEPARTMENT

POST 150
The Indio Police Department Cadet Post 150 is a joint youth program of the Indio Police Department, the Boys and Girls Club of the Coachella Valley, and the Boy Scouts of America. Its purpose is to teach responsibility and leadership skills to local youths by interacting with the community and the justice system in the following ways:

1) Educate our cadets regarding the justice system

2) Explore the many branches of Law Enforcement

3) Expose our cadets to the various careers in the community, and in the criminal justice system to enable them to make a positive determination on a career.

4) Advance the knowledge in the community of law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

 
The police department cadet program is a volunteer unit and is authorized to have up to 20 members. The personnel who work with the program consists of police officers, representatives of local youth organizations, and parents that volunteer their own time to Cadet Post 150.Our cadets provide valuable assistance to the Indio police department by helping with traffic control, crime prevention programs, public relations, station duty, records, special events, dispatch, cadet bicycle safety team, cadet honor guard, and the department's mobile police station.

 

CADET APPLICATION PROCESS

Cadets are selected based on the following evaluation guidlines:

• Be between 14 -18 years old

• Show desire to participate in the program

• Pass a Background Check

•Possess Good Family Values and Morals

• Maintain Good Academics

• Pass an Oral Interview
