The Indio Police Department is seeking qualified individuals to join us in a partnership of fighting crime. After successfully completing the Indio Police Department Citizens Patrol Academy, the graduates will perform a variety of tasks in patrol, crime prevention and public relations via our C.itizens H.elping I.ndio P.olice (CHIP'S) Program. The Citizen Patrol Volunteer is issued a uniform and operates in a marked City of Indio Citizens Patrol car.

The Citizens Patrol Program is designed to utilize the valuable resources of citizens eyes and ears to patrol the businesses and neighborhoods of our community in a non-confrontational manner. This program emphasizes the principals of "preventive patrol" by utilizing patrol techniques designed to deter crimes and report suspicious activity by the police radio. Citizens Patrol Volunteers do not make arrests and are prohibited from engaging in confrontations.

 
 
 
 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Complete a Volunteer Application
• Must be a resident of the City of Indio or surrounding area
• Age 21 or older
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to qualify for motor vehicle insurance
• No felony convictions
• Must successfully complete a background investigation
